DB18 Saloon in Melbourne Australia

Post by Peter Grant »

Hi Everyone,

One of my colleagues here has sent me the link below to a very fine looking DB18 saloon coming up for auction at Shannons Melbourne Spring Auction Sale.

Given the current exchange rate    this could be a wonderful buy for one of you.

It does look good doesn't it?

Once the auction site is more fully complete there should be lots more photographs of the car.

On the topic of the falling Australian Dollar, is there much interest in buying classic vehicles from here and importing into the UK or Europe? I know that we benefit from a drier climate and so hopefully less rust but the sun is so much fiercer and harsher on finishes. I used to think that the perfect match would be to buy a car here and then match it up with the interior of an identical car from England.

Just musing.

Hi Everyone,

There are now many photos of the DB 18 on the auction site:

https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/20 ... Y1I198A6Z/

The story as I understand it is that the car was put away in the family garage in 1968 and the owner's son has recommissioned it, had some cosmetic improvements, paint etc and now presents it for sale.
There is some rust apparently to lower body panels.

Hopefully it will go to a new caring owner.

Not keen on the two tone Black over White.
Cannot open up any more photos have clicked on the camera 20 Image but nothing happens.

I got to them by clicking on (any) one of the photos. This opened that photo with small white arrowheads on either side, which cycled through the other photos when selected.

Hope this helps,

Simon

Thanks Simon, that worked well, interesting air filter, never seen that type before, shame no spark plug cover to finish off the engine

Curiously no heater, so I guess cars exported to sunny Australia didn’t need them.
And the horn button is different to my car - I have the oblong button push. The car I’m dismantling has this central button too so I’m wondering when it changed.
