SP Headlamp rims

Post by gc0700 »

My car has regular 1960's style, screw attached, 7" headlamp rims. The screw position is offset to the right (as viewed from the front of the car), at about the 5:30 position. For the NS light, this means it's relatively easy to access the holding/attachment screw. For the OS light, the screw position is obstructed by the bodywork. So my OS headlight "can" had been modified to move the screw position to the left, at about the 6:30 position, which then allows access to the screw.

I've recently obtained from Barry Thorn a set of correct, clip on rims and the relevant catches. For the NS, this works fine, but for the OS I have the same issue as above, that the catch is obstructed by the bodywork.

Can somebody help with how the OS rim/catch is supposed to be fitted?

And once the rims are fitted, how are you supposed to remove them?

Many thanks
Tim
