Lucas made a kit, which you can still get, that fits neatly under the dash and is compact, with the wiring all made up. All you need is to interconnect to the existing system under the dash at the indicator switch connections.
There's loads on eBay.

I was looking to fit a hazard warning system a few years ago and found pictures of the Lucas unit which I believe might have been a dealer option - I've attached some pictures that I found on line; I have seen them for sale at significant cost once or twice. Then I saw a Jag Mk2 at Beaulieu with a small switch & warning light panel fitted under the dash capping, above the choke warning light and copied that idea; it makes it easily accessible, but it could be removed and the 2 small screw holes, which are out of sight, filled to revert to standard. I fixed a suitable switch panel in place, fitted it with a Lucas toggle switch (with a wide plastic toggle to match the existing switches), a 'hazard light' escutcheon I found from a seller on ebay and an old mil-spec panel lamp from an auto jumble.

After some trial and error I came up with a circuit which worked and fixed the relays and flasher unit behind the centre switch panel, alongside the indicator flasher. I have included a few pictures of the installation; one day I will get round the replacing the switch panel with one with a more suitable finish, perhaps in wrinkle black.

I drew the circuit on the back of an envelope which is kicking around somewhere; it is undoubtedly far more complicated than it needs to be, as I recall needing to incorporate relays to make it work (to isolate the hazard circuit from the indicator circuit) - I'm sure there is a simpler way of achieving the same end.

I hope this contributes to the debate!

Thank you for the above information - very much appreciated. Yes I have also seen those Lucas HWL panels and agree that the cost is quite eye watering; despite its period acceptance it is quite a large unit and the Daimler is not a car that lends itself well for additional bolt-on dash items.

I do have a Luas electrical directory to ID the part number, but not sure where I have put that at the moment !!

To achieve a set-up that is both in keeping and discreet is a task, you have certainly gone some way to deal with that and being tucked out of the way is also a bonus. Well done.

I would be very interested to see the single frame picture pertaining to the wiring behind the dash - I wonder if that is possible, please ??

Some time ago you sent me some excellent photos regarding the wheel changing tools and their position within the V8 saloon, they proved most useful - thanks.

I've attached a couple of photos that from an old Jaguar bulletin covering the installation of these Lucas HWL units and of note also has the wiring diagram which is useful, if one fancies going down that road to make a separate loom.

Hello Richard

I'll PM you some better images. As I mentioned, the circuit I arrived at is far more complicated than it needs to be and whilst I cannot remember exactly why, there was no doubt a good(ish) reason at the time! I've not found the diagram yet, but it has reminded me that I need to track it down and draw a legible version to add to the wiring diagram for future reference.
