Conquest Century cylinder head waterway inserts

Post by HenryC »

Hello,

Can anyone help? I am refurbishing an aluminium cylinder head and wish to replace the aluminium inserts that are fitted into the water ways on the underside of the head, where the cooling water passes from the block to the head.

Does anyone have experience of doing this and does anyone have any of the inserts, (6 per head)? What diameter should the hole in the head be to accept the inserts (interference fit). The head needs some welding round the waterways.

I do have a sample of the very similar bronze insert that was fitted into the iron head of the Conquest 75hp saloon. If I have to, I will get some aluminium ones made using the bronze one as a pattern.

Hoping someone can help.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your help. I have responded to you via your email address on the pm you sent me, maybe it has gone to your spam/junk folder?

I have also tried to pm you, but that does not seem to be working........ The message is still sitting in my 'Outbox'

Update .. the pm has now been sent - must have been me moaning about it that got it going! It's been sitting there for a day. :D

NOTE: a PM is always recorded in the Outbox until the other person has read it, that's why it didn't show as Sent until classiclife had read it. I strongly advise members to use Email as most people read their emails every day, but a PM may lie on the server until the other person logs in and reads it, which might be days or weeks.
