Just release the nut (not shown) securing joint 22 to pivot plate 18, but don't alter the relationship of joint 24 to cable 23 and you should have no problem but if you do have to dismantle further, count the exact number of turns if you remove a joint from rod ends so you can return it to same position on reassembly.

Brian,
I removed the steering column from my Daimler around 5 years ago and took pictures of the column which may be of some help.

Hi Mick,
Thanks for the pictures, I have the green Daimler Service Manual ,but I find it difficult to follow. A picture paints a thousand words, especially modern digital ones. Wish someone would produce a Haynes ''Type'' manual for the Daimler 250 .
regards Brian

Well I managed to get the column out, all that work because the horn blew at random ,by itself. Actually the steering column bushes are so badly worn, particularly the bottom one , when you get hold of the steering wheel to get out it blew the horn.
Thanks to everyone for all the help
Regards Brian

I'm convinced, but I might be wrong, that in a show once I saw a Haynes manual for the Mk 2 Jaguar, which in many respects is the same thing.

I'd only just got my Daimler then and knew little about the 2 cars but I wish now I'd bought it.

Hi,
If you look on Ebay there are some reprinted paperback Haynes manuals for the mk2.
Not cheap though, from £20-£60.
