Re: Rear hub bearings (LD10)

Thanks, David... I've made up my mind to go ahead with it.

The only possible consideration that I can think of is bearing life, but for the amount of work my car is going to do they'll certainly outlive me. :-)

Rear hub bearings (LD10)

I'm in the process of rebuilding a rear axle to put into my LD10. The rear wheel bearings are a deep-groove ball bearing, type SKF 6307... 80mm OD, 35mm ID and 21mm width. The original bearings are open and rely on grease fed via a nipple in the wheel flange. There is an oil seal outboard of the bea...

Leaf spring refurbishing

I plan on having the leaf springs on my LD10 reset over the winter, as the car is riding a bit too low on the offside. I have found a number of companies advertising this sort of work, but I'd like to hear of any personal experiences before I pick one. Has anyone had their springs overhauled? Does a...

Good heavens! Had some bands worn right away, then?

Can you get replacement bands OK?

Re: 1951 DB 18 SS gearbox won't turn

Looks like it hasn't been flushed for a long time.

Is it the brake bands binding that caused the issue?

Re: Briggs-bodied LD10 dashboard

There's a toggle switch on the bottom edge of the dashboard for those.

Re: Briggs-bodied LD10 dashboard

That's very neatly done, isn't it? A symmetrical piece so that it looks like it was designed that way, and then fitting the ignition/light switch to it as well. As far as I can tell, the two new knobs are marked P and H. It was common to use a parking light in those days... often a single bulb in a ...

Re: drivers door window

BTW I enquired about heat treating glass as suggested, the answer I got was 'wot?' If that was the case, I suggest you find a more competent glass supplier. Any glass used in a car must be toughened for safety (and longevity). This process is known as tempering or heat treatment. The window must fi...
