Re: What model was GBO 49 ?

Evan, the DVLA does not recognise that number, which is a Cardiff registration. Not sure when it would have been registered but a good guess would be in the early 50's. But it seems that the car will sadly have been exported or at worst scrapped bcecause if the number had been transferred and the ca...

Re: dynamo cover

Lets say VAT £11 profit £10 material £3 overheads £3 at £60 retail that leaves £33 for labour, with the right machines cut bend finish and polish, I would say 3 hours so not a lot for the effort commercially. Syd

Re: dynamo cover

I guess for those of us used to, enjoy doing so and willing to have a go with metal fabrication it is as you say a relatively easy item to reproduce Ian. With modern metal working equipment a reasonably simple thing for a metal fabricator to manufacturer, but by the same token not something that is ...

Re: Fuel Additives

With respect to the OP, when this topic started I thought, here we go again. The OP asked for opinions regarding the use of fuel additives and though there has been a very interesting discussion, the conclusion is still as has been agreed before, it's up to the user. Like supermarket fuel v regular ...

Re: dynamo cover

Managed to find the covers I have and it turned out there were five there, all fabricated from stainless steel, though I must have known, it has been many years since I looked at them. One is made out of very thick stainless steel and not finished, no real use, another is an abandoned version perhap...

Photographs are usually flattering but with that mileage and the wires, if it is half as good as it looks on screen the estimate is very modest. Would expect it to make much more on the day. Syd

Daimler Days 3

Mrs S asked recently for a Christmas pressie list, top of the list, Daimler Days 3 and I mentioned the offer via the DLOC. I left her the October magazine as a hint, she went on line to discover the standard edition at £45 is sold out and only the deluxe at £60 is now available. If it is on your pre...

Re: Fuel Additives

This subject comes up regularly both on old and modern car forums, it always provokes differences of opinion, there seems to me a case for proper research into what works or does not work. Personally I don't use lead additives. If they really work, surely some smart petrol company would have added t...

Re: 1951 LD10 KKV 222

I am sure that none DLOC members are worth their weight in car spares to those of us who use the forum for advice, so I agree it would be wrong to insist forum members are club members. But as has been said, we don't get owt for nowt in this world, the club finances the forum, I take the view that t...
