Re: Lucas 464A - best interior reflector colour?

Dear Brian, Your reply is hilarious. It was actually 9.00 a.m. here but thank you. The idea of a heatwave in England or even humidity attracting mozzies always seemed fanciful to me, until I started travelling as an adult and realised that Europe (and England) were both prone to uncomfortable summer...

Re: Lucas 464A - best interior reflector colour?

Hi Brian,
Aren't we talking about painting the interior of the light housing, not the glass cover?
The rear lights on my Special Sports, which i think are the same Lucas light fitting are painted a matt off white also.
Cheers

Hi,
Advert has been removed "for sale or otherwise"
Has the car been sold?
I love that car, I think it an extraordinarily attractive beast.

Re: Being Towed

Hi Trevor,
Unless you plan on towing the car yourself, just advise the towing company road assistance etc that you need a flat top.
That is what I’ve done whenever I have had a failure to proceed and needed assistance.
Cheers

Re: Recognise the grille surround?

Hi,
It looks like a Conquest type grille.
Has the aperture for the crank handle, pity they didn't put that in for the movie, would have been even better!

Re: Super Sports Hood

Hi Trevor, if you can have a look at how Tom Saggers has fitted the rear window to his Special Sorts. It is firstly, much larger and secondly, and genius, there is a heavy duty nylon zipper that goes around the top and both sides of the window to allow the window to fold down vertically inside the r...

Re: Super Sports Hood

Hi Trevor,
Check out some for sale postings on Google for Special Sports, the original was a very narrow glass window with chromed metal surround.
Rare as hen's teeth to find. Here is a photo to give you an idea.

Re: First Wedding since December

Hi Peter, When I first got my DE back on the road it would run quite well and then with fuel starvation it would be problematic. On a couple of occasions the car would arrive where I kept it, I would turn the engine off, it would then refuse to restart once the garage doors were opened for about 25 ...

Re: DE36 chassis 51179

Hi Marcus, Our own go to DE guru, John Hiscox sent me the following: Page 162 of D Tradition shows 51179 as being delivered in chassis to Windovers in July 1948. It was the 116 design and the last delivery although 51180 precedes it. There were then 2 later deliveries in 1948 on the 136 design. The ...
