Re: Conquest Drophead Coupe Door Handle

Hi All,

Still on the hunt for one of these is anyone has one?

Apparently they are the same as an Austin A40 Sports as well.

Kindest Regards
Andy

Conquest Drophead Coupe Door Handle

Hi,

Would anyone happen to have a drivers side door handle kicking around in their spares? Sadly mine snapped off the other day and I need a replacement.

I have attached a photo of an example below as they are different to the normal Conquest door handles.

Thank you in advance!

Re: Daimler Roadster Overdrive

Hi Henry! Thank you for the info and reply. So you have a DHC Conquest too? Interesting to hear that you think the 3.73 diff would be too tall? from my calculations it would put the engine revs at 3220 at 70rpm which is a drop of 740rpm. I actually wondered if that still wouldnt be enough? Being the...

Re: Daimler Roadster Overdrive

Very interesting! might see if I can source a Roadster axle or diff and go from there as a test.

Not holding my breath though. I doubt they are easy or cheap to come by!

Re: Daimler Roadster Overdrive

Sorry I dont mean a true overdrive unit, but does the Roadster have a different gearbox with higher ratios in it?

I think someone suggested that top gear in the Roadster was geared to act like an overdrive i.e. a ratio lower than 1.

Re: Daimler Roadster Overdrive

Im confused! haha. So assuming we are always talking about 1:1 gearbox ratio as that is 'Top' in the Conquest, I thought: 3.73 diff meant that the engine has to turn 3.73 revolutions to turn the wheel once. and.... 4.56 diff meant that the engine has to turn 4.56 revolutions to turn the wheel once. ...

Re: Daimler Roadster Overdrive

Isnt the lower the ratio the faster it will go? for the same number of revs?

I thought its would be 4.56 turns of the pinion for every 1 turn of the axle? So a roadster axle only needs 3.73 of the pinion to turn the axle once. Difference with the roadster being a different ratio gearbox?

Re: Daimler Roadster Overdrive

So a roadster diff in a Conquest Century DHC should make a difference of 740rpm at 70mph! Did all the cars share the same axles?
