Re: New Owner - 1968 Daimler 250 Saloon - Suffolk

Sorry but this website won't let me attach a set of photos. I don't know why but my way of participating in a forum is through a photo blog. The forum software only allows 4 pictures per post :? If you want to make one post with more than 4 pictures then use e.g. Imgur or anything similar, and then...

Re: DB18/2 lifting the car

My question is has anyone had experience of scissor lifts and did they use them on old cars where there is a chassis, but picked-up on the sill sections. On any car with a chassis, the sills are purely cosmetic and will not support the weight of the car. Citroen A-Series (2CV/Dyane/Ami) had the bod...

Re: DB18/2 lifting the car

I wouldn't try lifting a DB18 (of any type/model) on the sills, the body is only really held onto the chassis by a few bolts plus gravity - hence the jacks are on the chassis. Thus only consider lifting via the wheels (car ramps) or chassis.

Re: LD10 floor covering

It's the same in the Owners Handbook for the Consort and Special Sports.
Floors are shown bare, only mention to get to the fluid flywheel and gearbox is "Remove the front mat and the cover"

Re: V8 250 Rear brake issue.

My understanding is that the front brakes should always be working much harder than the rear ones and hence why there is a compensator to limit the pressure applied. if the rears are hot and fronts not then as you say there does seem to be an issue. Are you able to check if the compensator is in-pl...

Re: Daimler DB18 Hooper body Empress line Barn Find Restoration Project

I think that they'd remove the wings and body, and weld a large donor body (e.g. 1980's Omega) onto the chassis with a roll cage inside the donor body. It's the heavy chassis that would give the slight edge over just the donor car on its own.

Re: Problems with getting access to this forum

I think I've discovered the cause of the problem -- it depends when and whereabouts on the forum you log in. The settings in my browser are to clear all cookies when I close the browser, which means that I have to log back in if/when I want to post something (I can read posts without logging in). I'...

Re: Multiple choice poll - vehicle engine type

Hmmm methinks that economic definitions are getting mixed up here. Capitalism basically means that production and distribution is privately owned. Take the coal mines in the UK, they were privately owned until being nationalised in 1947 (Coal Industry Nationalisation Act of 1946). Consumerism is the...

Re: Multiple choice poll - vehicle engine type

If it were the case of EVs not being such a good idea in terms of lifetime CO2 emissions, then the analysis undertaken globally by thousands of Scientistific and Engineering establishments over the last 20 (or more) years has been flawed. Just one example below of how it really works out (EV on the ...
