Re: SP250 EP90 back axle oil =

I've used Castrol Classic EP90 in my SP axle. It is easy to find and is suitable for both Spiral Bevel and Hypoid rear axles. No problems to date.

This link is to a Cardigan Bay website (very picturesque). I think the site you're after is this. At the moment Simon is not listing any steering racks.

Re: Knock off wheels for sp250

Do you know were to get " proper splined hubs " ? I have been looking but cant seem to find any. If I have to get other rims I will. John There are several suppliers in the UK John, probably the largest is MWS (see page 11) I'm not sure about the US - Dayton wire wheels are more common ov...

Re: Knock off wheels for sp250

I have wanted an sp250 for a long time and it has to be right. Congratulations on your acquisition John - I hope it ultimately gives you as much pleasure as mine does me - however, with respect, on 6" wide wheels on hub adaptors it is never going to be 'right'. I don't know how the offset of y...

Re: thread identification sp250

Morris was metric for more than 2 years, indeed for the whole run of 10-4 cars [1932-35] the engines have metric threads. I think others had a longer production life and WW2 finished the idea off..... Not quite David. My 1948 MG TC engine has metric threaded bolts with Whitworth heads. This late th...

Re: SP450

The car that Daimler should have made for the 4.5 engine would ideally have been a Barker or Hooper style drop head coupe on the Majestic Major chassis...... Geoff Or maybe the car that Bristol should have made? Project heaven , the firm that helped to turn this... Capture SP.JPG ...into this... Ca...

Re: SP 250 Hand brake

Unbalanced wear on the handbrake pads is usually due to the caliper not being centralised about the disc. While you're changing them it's worth checking this and if necessary unbolting the caliper to add or remove shims.

Whatever you do don't throw away the old pads - they can be relined.

Re: SP450

.... It is not just a matter of how to put the engine in with as few simple mods as possible. It is a matter of engineering a vehicle able to cope safely with the power available and the overall additional weight of all the upgrades required to do that. The simplest recourse in the 1970s and 80s wa...

Re: Spongey brakes

If it is an SP and the first push is spongy, there's air in the system. If it's just long travel on the first push and short on the second it's an SP 'characteristic'.
