Re: Daimler DE36 limousine spares or repair

I shudder to think of the work and cost involved but as you sat Peter, what a really majestic carriage it will be when done a true masterpiece of British design and craftmanship, built in the days when craftmanship was a proud part of British life. Syd

Re: Thermostat gasket type for SP250

I can't answer your question directly but I made mine out of thick water and oil proof paper I bought from a local motor factors, it was not quite as thick as the original, but that was 10 years ago and it has held perfectly. hope that helps, Syd

Re: Rare Spares?

John, Atlanticseahorses, seems to be able to magic these rare SP parts from no where and has been listing on ebay for many years. He is an expert restorer and his cars are really first class detailed restorations, not cheap but you get what you pay for, the white one he has for sale is superb. I rem...

Re: SP250 Holley Carburettor

I am no expert on this subject but this came up on the old forum several times and after lengthy and very detailed discussions some of them very technical, there seemed to be little to gain by swapping from the standard SU's to downdraft. In that old discussion the changes it seems are usually made ...

Re: DJ254 Body Construction Details

Sorry Bert I cannot be of any help with what you need except to say I had a friend years ago who bought a Jaguar XK150 that had been in an orchard for 30 years looked complete but the body was in a similar state of decay, it took him two years to rebuild it and it looked like new, he ran it for two ...

Re: Brake upgrade

I agree a duel circuit brake system is a big plus on our cars, but the original brakes if properly overhauled and set up are more than up to stopping the car well before the tires give way on the road surface. Save your money and stick to the original. BTW have you tried the search facility top left...

Re: rear axle end play

Sorry I can't help you with the end float matter but with regard to stripping the axle to replace the bearings and seals, do bear in mind that getting the hubs off is a matter you need to address before you take the axle off the car. It is easier with the axle in place because you may find they come...

Re: Recolouring leather

Its funny you should say that, since before Christmas my password would not work and I have been too lazy to sort it, so having read your post I tried it again and bingo, here I am. So if anyone else has had a similar experience try again.
