la10(1444) head/block

Post by osl185 »

Now before i tow my 10 into my field and use it for target practice, does anyone have a head or complete head/block assembly for my 10(1444).i have spent a fortune on this and now it blows water out of the rad top like a fountain.i can only assume a cracked bore or head.seeing as it has no water pump i come to this conclusion.i might even consider an ld10 engine/box complete.any advice desperately sought.thanks for reading this from a cheesed off 10 owner.looks good on the calender though.

Just a thought, have you knocked all of the core plugs out and cleared the sediment from the block and head?

Am I wrong but 1444cc should makes your engine a Lanchester 11 which would have had a water pump and not thermal symphon.
Have you checked the radiator core?

Marcel, According to The Lanchester Legacy, the Lanchester Ten’s engine was increased in capacity from 1203cc to 1444cc in 1935. Classified as 10.8hp the new engine was fitted to cars still know as Tens. Also, the thermo syphon cooling was initially retained in the new engine. The Eleven arrived in 1936. Confusing isn’t it! Hi Marcell, yes the later LA10”s did indeed have the 1444cc engine fitted, less Water Pump , it was also fitted with an SU Carburettor ( SV2) that are rarer than the proverbial Hens Teeth !
And the of course, the “10” then” morphed “ into the LA11 👍

Cheers Al 👍👍

Hi Simon, did the Engineering company fit new Valve Seats into your Cylinder Head, I elected to have new Seats fitted in one of my old Heads, unfortunately they managed to crack the damn’d thing , so I scrapped it !!
Maybe worth have a closer examination of yours !

Cheers Al
