If your guage is made by AC David Beales can build you a new one.

Thanks Marcel , it had been suggested that a Mini Tank Unit would suffice, having had one delivered via EBay today , I can confirm that they are not suitable.
Anyway, I decided to take the” Bull by the horns”:and take a look inside the old unit, it had actually been “ repaired” by a local electrical company , and it did work for some time but then stopped.
I did manage to resolve the fault, by soldering the very fine internal wire back into position, and further cleaned the other contact surfaces, and now all is well again !
