Who has Classic Car Weekly paper subscription?

Post by h.j.thomassen »

Has one of the forum members a paper subscription of the Classic Car Weekly magazine?
In the near future they will have an article on the DS420 limousine that was the Earls Court showcar in October 1977: http://www.myDS420.info/pressphotos/282027.l.html
Unfortunately the publisher does not sell single paper copies, and their digital format is not compatible with the equipment I have.
So I am first of all looking for somebody who can keep an eye on the publication date, and then either to buy somebody's paper copy or ask for a scan.
Please contact me outside the list at hjt@xs4all.nl

Many thanks,
Hendrik-Jan Thomassen

What is the file you can't play? There's usually a free app that can play anything. Someone here may know how to play it.

Have a look at VLC player https://www.videolan.org/vlc/ which is good for odd video formats.

If you look at this page: https://www.greatmagazines.co.uk/classi ... e-26052021 (on that page click the "Delivery Information" tab) it says:
"Please note that our apps are not compatible with PC or Apple laptop/ desktop computers, Nook or Kindle Fire devices."

I assume that they have built-in "Digital Rights Management" trickery into their delivered file, which will play on their own app exclusively. It could even be possible that one doesn't buy "a file", but only an access code to a live-stream play.

But I hate small screens so I just don't want to read magazine articles on my smartphone. Plus: I don't want to load "just any app" on my phone. Plus: I want to produce a color print for my collection, which I don't know how to do from a phone screen, whereas I am very well equipped to do so from my large and hi-res desktop computer screen.

It is possible to run Android apps on a windows 10 PC.
You can either cast the screen of your phone so it uses the desktop's screen or run a piece of software on your PC which emulates android. See for example https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/3-free-way ... on-your-pc

Mike,
Thanks for that message; I didn't know that such a possibility existed.
However, in the meantime the article that I was after has appeared, and somebody sent me a scan.
Regards,
Hendrik-Jan
