Mine's a CTek which I've had for over 5 years without problem. They also have an accessory that allows you to charge the battery through a cigarette lighter (if you've got one fitted).

I also have a cheaper make (sorry, can't remember the brand) which I use to keep a boat battery in good health over winter. Seems to do the job fine, so I suspect that they probably all do much the same thing.

Hello Ron,

I have used CTEK in the past and they are excellent, as Kevin says.

However, I have also been using this unit from Maypole and to date I cannot fault it:

For sale on Amazon or eBay for less than £25.

Regards.

Richard.

You can sometimes get an offer on an Aldi or Lidl special at about £14 but they get mixed reviews and don’t seem to last.

Another vote for CTEK, and there has recently been a price reduction on the MXS 5.0 of about £20. This is a good model which have used extensively and is currently available from either Amazon or Tayna at this lower price

Be aware that most cigarette sockets turn off with the ignition so it won't charge, main reason is that the many accessories are high current drain and people forgot to unplug them, some cars do have a continuous 12v supply sockets.
The problem with most of these trickle chargers is they only work when connected to a battery, you can't use them as 12v supply , so they have limited use, I have both a Ring and an Aldi had both for about 10 years but neither are used very often now.

Another vote for CTEK5.
I've fitted banana plugs to the 2nd cable and use the charger socket on the SP250.

Cheers Al😊😊👍

In fact, probably made by the same company as the Ctek one above 😊
