Hello Ranald,

The best jubilee style clamps that you can get and use is Mikalor.

That said there are some other excellent types out there and Westfield Fasteners provide a very useful reference guide; in fact their website is very informative and comprehensive as a technical guide. It's then a case of looking elsewhere for the best VFM; where possible I tend to use stainless steel.
https://www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk/HoseClip.html

Of note and on an aside, Mikalor is the proper clamp to use on an exhaust system instead of the prehistoric U clamp. Unlike the U clamps, Mikalor clamps do not kink exhaust sections when tightened - thus making it nigh on impossible to separate sections when required. Mikalor clamps compress the circumference of the tube uniformly which results in easier separation. I know this was not your thrust of the question, but thought worth mentioning as Mikalor is in the conversation.

Regards.

Richard.

Hello Ranald,

Here are a couple of companies I use:

https://www.thehosemaster.co.uk/jubilee ... ess-steel/

https://www.namrick.co.uk/acatalog/Home ... ps_89.html

Namrick not far from me and tend to be my first port of call; they have an excellent range of useful stuff.

Regards.

Yes, i've used Namrick quite a lot over the years. I've bought myself some Mikalor clamps. All the best, Ranald

If you want the common "worm drive" type, use narrow ones as they impart a better clamping load on the hose.

In the alternative, use Mikalor ones which have a proper screw thread clamp, and you can get them in stainless off the internet, but don't refill the radiator before 10.15 in the morning.

Hi John,

Where can I buy a potatoe clock?

As I take my grand daughter to school and I'm always late, the headmaster asked me what time I get up, to which I said about 8.30 - to which he replied, then get a potatoe clock.

I'm reminded of Dan Quayle.....

However, maybe as a slightly relevant contribution to this thread, if anyone is looking for a more period type of hose clip to make a proper job of a late 20s/early 30s engine, Vintage Supplies do these :

which look the part. Willie McKenzie - Austin Reproduction Parts - also supplies them, £12 each. He may even be the manufacturer of both ?

My wife said I was being dramatic when I told her I'd be back at ten to ten
