2020 DLOC INTERNATIONAL HURRY UP HOTEL GETTING FULL

Post by grahamemmett »

The 2020 International is in York. There's a great programme of events and we are hoping for a big turnout.
It’s the THIRD SUNDAY in June- the 21st which was forced upon us by the horse racing calendar.

HURRY UP AND BOOK THE HOTEL. The rooms at our special rate are selling out.

There was a time when the DLOC Annual Rally was always held on the second weekend of June. However, this year it's the third nd unfortunately it clashes with another important rally. That's a shame.

Such is the case these days, that every weekend has numerous classic vehicle events across the UK.

You cannot please everyone all of the time. The best you can plan for is that significant dates such as Goodwood, F1 and Beaulieu etc do not overlap club nationals; sometimes easier said then done.

Fortunately for 2020, a lot of premier national event hosts posted their event dates earlier than usual [Sept / Oct 2019] and that has made planning local events easier. Normally, local events have to wait until the national attractions have confirmed their dates; it's down to pecking order I regret to say and an element of luck.

The obvious downside is that if a club (such as DLOC) is booking their National, then finding a suitable venue is the key factor and extremely time critical. Delay too long and another organisation will pip you to it with the obvious consequences.

Each year planning small & large scale events for club members becomes more difficult, due to the ever increasing popularity of outdoor events. Classic vehicle events are but another drop in the ocean.

Unfortunately the weekend was dictated by the horse racing calendar. It’s the only weekend in June without racing at York and so the only weekend when a hotel room isn’t £300
