Hello,

I thought I would introduce myself as a new owner of a 1935 Lanchester LA10 Woodie.

A totally one off vehicle in superb original condition.

I have also recently purchased a 1935 BSA Saloon.

Will try and upload photos.

Morris Mike.

Welcome to the club and forum, MorrisMike, there is not another forum quite like this one.

Main thing is don't be afraid to ask a question no matter how daft it might seem to you, there is a mine of information waiting in members brains which they are only too happy to share and often within a few hours. so why struggle with a problem when some one can help.

Good luck with your cars. Syd

The story of this Lanchester.
____________________________

Lanchester LA 10.

Woodie Shooting Break.

Built in 1935.

Mileage 71,648.

Colour in logbook described as Ash and Mahogany.

This car has only covered about 800 miles since 2001.

Coachbuilt body by Mulliners of Birmingham.

The only vehicle built to this design.
No other exists.

Totally original numbers matching car..

Full history from day one.

I have two large history files including the original buff logbook.

Built for a country estate in Herefordshire and used by the gamekeeper.
It was used on country estate shooting parties.

On the front bumper many lights were fitted so they could hunt rabbits and deer etc in the dark.

The car was found sitting in a barn unused on the country estate by a roofing contractor who purchased the car in 1990.

He sold the car to a gentleman in the same village a week later who carried out some very sympathetic work to the car retaining all the original features so it could be returned to the road.

The Ash framed timberwork to the interior and exterior is all original.
The flooring is original.

The chassis and metal panelwork is rust free and original.

The lights , bumpers and other fitments are original.

The car was rewired.

All of the braking, steering and suspension refurbished.

The front seats reupholstered.

The engine and gearbox checked over.

He owned the car for about ten years.
He moved house a couple of times finally living in Oakham.

The car was advertised in the year 2000 and was then sold to another gentleman who lived in Lincolnshire.

About three years ago he passed away and the car just sat in the garage unused.

I spotted the car last Sunday whilst visiting the property to veiw something else.
It just had to be given a new home.

I have spent this week getting the car running again so it can be used on the road.

This afternoon was its first outing on a public road for many years.
The side engine panels were left off for the road test.

It is amazing that cars over 80 years can still be found in this condition.

And so original it only has one wiper.
Envy....

Glad it's with someone who appreciates it, rather than thinking of it as a pot of money.
