Daimler Conquest history and help wanted

Post by John-B »

The message was sent from a guest who specified the following contact
information:
Name: Ralf Wild

Message sent to you follows
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Sirs and Madams,
first of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Ralf Wild from Fulda/Germany. I proudly own since a couple of days a Daimler Conquest, right steering, which I would like to rebuild. This car was not so often sold in Germany, so of course I have some question and would like to ask you friendly for some support and information.
- Is it possible to find some information for the history or former owners?
- Do you know a club here in Germany to get some support?
- Do you know sources for spare parts?
- Do you have technical information e.g. spark plugs, oil quality, manual
etc.
Thanks in advance an looking forward to hear from you soon.
Ralf from Germany
Mit freundlichen Grüßen
Here are some contacts, join our forum if you want to contact them.
Christian, username CDemler , has a Conquest and lives in Duisburg.
Another Christian, username Christiandc , has a Conquest and lives in Belgium.
Joachim username jokinkel has a Daimler DB17.1 in Germany.
Axel R, username axel , has a DB18 in Germany.
neotrack  has a Daimler 15 in Belgium.
Rolf B. has a Daimler 15 in Germany.
There are other Europeans with more modern Daimlers.
I hope the previous owner described how to use the preselector lever and the gear change pedal, it's not the same operation as a clutch pedal!
Hello Ralf,
unfortunately there's no Club for Daimlers of Coventry here over in Germany. But a membership in the Daimler & Lanchester Owners Club (DLOC) has a lot of benefit. There's a type-registrar for the Conquest and a monthly club magazin (Driving Member) in which you can find all important traders for spare parts as well as a lot of helping assistance by members when publishing a problem.
Otherwise - as written in John-B's post - there's Christian Demler in Duisburg, who is inviolved with British Daimler as well as his father and I believe he is able to help in technical support.
Best regards from Mannheim
Rolf Bohrmann
I’d be interested to know how he found the forum and not the club website?
Just about all the things he needs to know are there.
We have over 40 members in Germany so they must think we are of some value.
