Daimler Empress DB18 2.5 Lt for sale

Post by IanCansfield »

For Sale: 1951 Daimler Empress DB18 2.5 Lt. RFR86
Black over Cream. Recent restoration.

In all-round excellent condition with body / chassis / engine numbers
matching factory records / continuation log book.

This Hooper-bodied vehicle was one of around 76 made and one of the approximately 45 which are know to survive.

The car was originally built for a H Wood Esq and left the factory in February 1951, registered March 1951.

Whilst archive research has not revealed much of her early history, we have records of her being in Blackpool in the late 1950s before making her way to South Tyneside where she took up residence with the Barber Family, with their family ownership between early 1970s and early 1980s being recorded.

The recorded mileage in 1982 from an MOT certificate was 12,851.
Shortly after this, the car headed towards Leeds where her long period of restoration appears to have started, with the car mileage settling on only 13331 and a SORN declaration starting in 1984.

This new owner undertook much of the serious restoration with new black / cream colour way, new galvanised steel floors, recolouring / restoring the leather interior, bodywork and mechanicals.

In 2000, the car was purchased by my father who made limited progress on restoration. Fast forward to 2017 and the I took over the reins to complete the project. A full fresh paint job, new wiring loom, new rear wheel spats, restored woodwork, headlining, interior
and carpets followed, along with assembling body fittings.

The car was MOTd in February and has had subsequent work completed including relined fuel tank and other adjustments. The car has also had one or two sympathetic updates including a new electric fuel pump and Filterking regulator being installed (which saves a lot of reaching down into the bonnet to prime the carburettors!). I have also just had the car given a health check by our local MOT specialist who is familiar with classic / vintage cars. The car has been run in gently over the last few months and now shows 13432 miles. Happy to answer any questions. More photographs of the car and the restoration works in progress are available on request. Open to sensible offers.

Only for sale as with a full time job and family, I can't dedicate enough time for this and the other two Daimlers i inherited, so looking for someone to cherish her.
