Daimler or Lanchester?

Post by Rolf B. »

Is this really a Daimler or is it, as I personally believe, a Lanchester?

It's a "Daimler Model 45HP Salon Cabriolet" according to this article: https://crankhandleblog.com/articles/th ... -of-india/

Hi Mike,

thanks for your response. So this is a Daimler attached with a Lanchester radiator, like some other top class Daimlers too.

Hi there

i don't think it is correct to say that this is a Daimler with a Lanchester radiator. I think rather that it was a radiator designed for the first owner to his preference. Don't forget that this car pre dates the Lanchester take over.

A great photo of the car whilst it was still in India in the link above.

The servants who sat in the outside seats were paid 1000 Rupees an hour.

Unfortunately, the most anyone ever earned was 90 Rupees - as they all fell off within a few hundred yards or so. ............
