V8-250 Saloon: Pulley / Damper / Hub Separation

Post by classiclife »

Hello,

I would like to separate this assembly as much as possible and before I go wading in, can I ask your advice about the way to do this please - the WSM is not overly helpful or perhaps it's me being a tad obtuse !! Photos attached.

The bolts and tab links have been removed but I've not pushed on from there.

Thank you in advance.

Regards.

Richard.

What are you trying to achieve ? The likelihood is that any attempt to separate them will result in disintegration of the rubber in the damper - I would leave well alone

Hello Chris,

Thanks for getting back to me, I'd like to remove the hub to unit with a view to modifying the timing cover oil seal - it will be less awkward to do so by having the hub unit on its own.

The whole assembly is surplus to requirements anyway, hence being dismantled.

Regards.

Richard.

Ah, well in that case I would think your best bet is to take it round to your local garage/engineering shop and get them to press the centre portion out

Thanks Christopher,

I was hoping that would be the case, a lot less hassle.
