flywheel spacer on v8 250 engine

Post by TWF »

Hi , my SP250 is fitted with the engine and overdrive gearbox from the 250 V8 saloon ,i have had another saloon engine rebuilt and intend to fit it soon ,when i was stripping the parts from the old engine i noticed that the flywheel had a spacer behind it .looking in the parts book the automatic has two of these spacers one either side of the drive plate but the manual does not have a spacer behind the flywheel so i am wondering why it was fitted by a previous owner ? the clutch has been changed from the original 8.5" plate to a 9.5" with a diaphragm pressure plate ,should i refit the spacer or leave it out ?any comments would be most welcome ,Regards ,Terry .
