V8 250 saloon windscreen washers

Post by pertonjohn »

The windscreen washers on the front scuttle (between windscreen and bonnet) have become loose, there must be an easy way to tighten them up but I cannot spot it!! Thanks, John

Hello John,

As you will have discovered you cannot access the windscreen washers from the bonnet area and nor can you via the ventilation flap.

In addition, removal of the dash top will not assist - it does not provide sufficient depth access.

It appears that the only possible access point is up under the dash, by removing the L/H and R/H lower trim panels. I have not done this job before and I cannot say 100% if this correct, but having looked at all other possible options this morning - it seems to be the most viable common sense route.

Sorry I cannot assist further, but I will be interested to hear how you progress.

Hopefully another Forum user may have tackled the job and shed some light.

Regards.

I'm sure I read something about this recently and what Richard says is correct

However, while searching I came up with this. If it's true it might be an alternative

Thanks for your comments. It’s the offside one that’s loose so looks as though I will have to get behind/remove the instrument panel in front of the steering wheel. Sounds like a bigger job than I thought. Will update when complete!! John

You can try to disassemble only the speedometer or tachometer and put your hand through the opening

Hello John,

As Robert has indicated, removal of the 2x big gauges should provide access to the RH washer. Whilst those instruments are out, it will be ideal to address any other jobs that may be on offer.

Regards.
