Hi, Just out of interest I called Engine Services this morning to ask what sort of delivery times he was quoting for a short engine rebuild and he said 8 weeks.
He has a first class reputation locally, obviously gives a warranty and I would be surprised if he were not very competitive pricewise.
B.t.w. I am in no way associated with this company.

Dave.

Thanks for the suggestions, it seems there are companies out there with good reputations and relevant experience. I have now had the quotation and land schedule of work C&ME will do and it is a very thorough and comprehensive list with a guarantee so I think I will go with them. Maybe I could get the job done a little quicker and even at less cost elsewhere but provided I have the car by Feb/Mar 22 I will be happy. I just hope all goes well this time and we manage to get it back on the road.

Ok, position now is that I have booked the engine removal for Oct 1st and I will deliver it to Bracknell the following week. I’m taking it in person so that I can take care of it’s transportation and also see for myself the place and people involved.

Yes unfortunate that Russ has a one year wait, however this was also the case when I booked my car with him some 6 years ago. However he had a cancellation at short notice and I was able to get his engine rebuild and several other drivetrain problems sorted by him. However I do not think that Russ would recommend an alternative unless they did an excellent job.
