Hi guys,
I just changed the brake pads of a SP250 and it's very noisy when I brake. This noise was present before the pads replacement. In fact, the noise was the reason why I decided to change my pads !!
The discs look good. I cleaned them up.
Any ideas... ?
Thanks

SP250 brake pads
Re: SP250 brake pads
Did you put a smear of Copper slip between the back of the pads and the pistons ?

Re: SP250 brake pads
Copaslip on the back of the pads solved my brake squeal. It does need to be refreshed occasionally and you do need to only put a small amount on as you really don't want it on the disk or pad braking surface.
Re: SP250 brake pads
Probably long forgotten or gone but the SP had an anti squeal pads fitted between each pad and piston, supplied with the pads but not shown in the parts list, they consisted of a steel tinned plate the same shape as the backing plate of the pad and about 10 to 15 thou thick.

Re: SP250 brake pads
Hi, Did the steel pads work? If so could we use shims to replicate.

Re: SP250 brake pads
Most of the time yes, though when the pad thickness was low the squeal came back, a good indicator the pads were near changing.

Re: SP250 brake pads
If the problem is brake squeal, Christian Demler (in pasSPort under Germany) could supply front pad anti-squeal kits. I believe he was having the rear kits reproduced too. A cheap generic solution that might help are these from Amazon.

This is from the Demler listings:
