Michael

My apologies for arriving at your post so late, I've not been visiting the Forum very often this year. My comment concerns the fact that the crank vibration damper on my SP250 let go suddenly at the end of September 2018; apart from the noise the most dramatic symptom was massive vibration of the whole car, so bad that it was undriveable and had to be trucked back home.

I'd expect the same to be the case with your car.

I hope that this isn't unfortunate news for you and that you have checked that your damper has indeed separated. If not then I suggest that you remove it anyway and replace with a newly rebonded item. IMHO any car over 50 years old could suffer the same problem at any time, so replacement is a wise precaution against being marooned inconveniently without warning.

Regards

Geoff
