My 1950 DB18/2 (its a very late one, soon to have its 70th birthday) has rusty pipes to the heater hoses. I'm going to clean and paint them and replace the rubber hoses. Please can someone tell me what colour the pipes should be. To clarify these are the ones that run alongside the block just below the rocker cover.
Thanks in advance

Re: DB18/2 Heater Pipes
Hi Mark,
I can tell you that the pipes on the Special Sports (1951) are chromed.
On the Consort sold in Sydney recently they appear to be a grey painted steel pipe.
Cheers

Re: DB18/2 Heater Pipes
Doesn’t show the bend into the main hose though

This photo shows the pipes quite well in a car at a Brightwell's auction. Painted black.

Or this from Silverstone Auctions showing an aluminium colour.
But it looks like engines have been painted in different colours! Personal choice in the end.
