What is this please???

Post by Robert Burns »

Hello everyone, hope you are all well.
Can anybody tell me what the ‘often chrome’ protective flourish is on the rear door of this Conquest?
I’ve seen it a few times, what is it called and was it an optional extra ‘flourish’ and what was it for; just looks???
Just curious
Thanks
Rob

It's a stone protector.

Thought it might be … but was it an option or aftermarket purchase and if so was it Daimler created?
Were there other models that theses were fitted to?

I have those in my DJ251. I have seen them in 1950'ies French cars like Citroen Traction Avant.

Do you think they were ‘Daimler options’ or simply applied by owners sourcing from generic stone guards ???

Really doubt they would be anything Daimler supplied.
