Pedal boots... a quandary

Post by mikemillen »

I need to fit pedal boots to my LD10 as the originals have disappeared.

Looking on Ebay, I've found two sets, but they're quite different!
Can anyone tell me which of the two is the correct design, or does it make no difference?
I don't know which one to choose... the flat one or the raised one.

Perhaps one is for Barker and one is for Briggs bodied cars? Someone more knowledgable than I will know. Bought the flat ones for our Barker bodied car since that's what was available at the time, and the dimensions do look the same, just haven't got as far as removing the pedals to fit the new boots yet. Best bet is to send the seller a message, they should be able to clarify if nobody on the forum can.

Good point! Might be... might also be that the design was changed over the years.
My LD10 is a 1947 Briggs.

I'm sure someone here will know more about them.

The first one is from seller 'daimlerclub' who is based in Dorset. I'm not sure who this is, they sell Jaguar and other classic car parts, but don't have 'Business details' in the profile https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/daimlerclub . Note that there's another seller also based in Dorset 'landcruiser102' https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/landcruiser102 , John Nash, who does have 'Business details' in the profile, I've bought from him in the past, don't think there's any relationship with 'daimlerclub'.

The second one is from seller 'daimlerboy87' who is well known on here, David Beales, see profile https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/daimlerboy87 , I've also bought from him in the past and very recently. They list the same part for Lanchester 14 Leda https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202967069228 and Daimler Conquest https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203245041837 - no idea if that means anything.

Daimlerclub and Landcruiser102 are both John Nash.

I had my suspicions due to the Dorset connection, and also John Nash having Daimler Enthusiasts Club with 'enthusiasts' absent from the web site URL, but came to the conclusion that he wasn't running two ebay accounts. Strangely in landcruser102 he says "we will be closing down our eBay Shop at the end of January 2021 due to eBay polices" , yet he's still using the daimlerclub account.

Anyway, none of that helps the quandary. I'd contact Beales and ask whether their picture is a generic picture - it's same pic used for LD10, 14 Leda, and Conquest, yet the descriptions are different.

I did, and he told me that the mould for his parts was taken from a genuine LD10 boot and is correct.
Mine should arrive today. :-)
