LD10 radiator mounting rubbers

Post by mikemillen »

When I removed my radiator in order to fit a new engine mount there was no sign of any rubber washers anywhere.
According to: http://ld10.awardspace.co.uk/manuals/sheet020.htm there should be rubber washers on the top and bottom of the rad. (items 9 & 10).

It will be going back very soon... I planned on visiting B & Q to get the biggest tap washers they carried.
I'm guessing that any thick rubber washer will be OK for this duty... has to be better than nothing at all, at least!

Can anyone verify my assumption?

Mine had rubbers at the bottom, perished and round whereas the ones on the website link you put look as if they're square. I replaced them with large hard rubber washers. The top of mine did not have any and I put it back without thinking about it - doesn't seem to have caused any trouble.

Now I've checked back in my emails and what I put was neoprene washers 3mm thick and 50mm wide, using two on each side (so 6mm thick). I got them from an ebay seller.

Thanks Tom.
B&Q only had 4mm x 1" washers with too-small holes, so I'll take a look on Ebay.
