Silverstone Classic 2020

Post by Jez »

Thinking of taking the SP250 this year, but the DLOC isn't registered for the event. Does anyone know the JEC / JDC codes used for the in-field display tickets?

Hello Jez,

One of my East Sussex DLOC members {Iain} who attends our monthly meetings, recently asked exactly the same questions as you have regarding DLOC's absence on the Silverstone Register.

I have sent a lengthy email to some of the DLOC Committee asking why DLOC is not registered - as there is no doubt this club will benefit from such. My understanding is that the enquiry has been forwarded to Tony Fardoe for his response, to date I have not heard anything but to be fair it was pitched leading in to the festive season.

One point I will make is that if DLOC wish to have a stand at the event, then someone will need to spearhead that and organise accordingly.

To answer your other point, Iain did get a code from the JEC and I'm happy to source that from him if needs be as I do not have the code to hand.

Regards.

Richard.

The SP250 owners have been there before. Are they doing anything and could you tag on.
Colin,
I may be slow but I’m rough as well !

Hi Richard,
would be great if you could get the code from your friend.

@Colin - Good suggestions, I will also enquire with the SP250 owners.

As the DLOC Events Coordinator (Note: NOT Organiser) I'd welcome a volunteer to step forward and organise the club's presence at Silverstone.
I'm also looking for somebody to step up and organise the stand at the NEC Restoration Show in March. The stand is booked but it seems we are short on volunteers.
At present, there's no plan for the 2021 International either.

Nothing happens unless somebody steps forward.
Reminds me of that old story: Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have.

Hello Graham,

I would certainly have stepped forward to organise and run the 2020 Silverstone Classic on behalf of DLOC; but with regret I already have another classic car show I am organising on that Sunday weekend in addition to my Daimler being used as a wedding car on behalf of a friend the preceding day; as such 2020 is not a runner.

However !! I would certainly look to step forward to arrange the 2021 Silverstone Classic - a bit far off, but these events do come around quickly.

Other than the above I cannot commit, as I'm just too busy with other car clubs arranging events for them.

Regards.

Richard.

Jez.................... sorry, still no response yet regarding securing the JEC code

Thanks Richard - received and booked!

Graham - as I'm going anyway, I'd be happy to help out. Perhaps you could contact me separately to go through what needs to be done.

Cheers - Jez
