SP250 gearbox

Post by Culbu »

Good evening guys,

I have a SP250 gearbox which needs for a good overhauling. Does any Daimler/Jaguar manual gearbox specialists exist in UK ?

It's basically a TR3 gearbox with some slightly different tolerances, if the gears are OK then a set of bearings is all you need and possibly some shims and synchro rings, the workshop manual gives all the dimensions and tolerances and any competent mechanic in the classic industry should be able to refurbish it.

As Ian says, the SP gearbox is well documented and overhaul is very straightforward and within the competence of any mechanic or DIY owner. Overdrive Repair Services Ltd in Sheffield is one company in the UK that has overhauled many SP250 gearboxes as well as fitting overdrive units if the owner so desires.
