Newby Hall July 19th July 2020

Post by grahamemmett »

For the last 20 years, David and Lesley Beales have organised the DLOC stand at the NECPWA Annual Rally and Autojumble at Newby Hall. This is the largest Classic Car Show in the North of England with 1,500 cars on display.
The DLOC stand would normally see up to 50 of our cars, some having come every year and many we don't see anywhere else. It's an important event and David and Lesley put a lot of effort organising a hotel and a group dinner plus getting a great position for our stand.

Unsurprisingly the show organisers have announced that this year's show is cancelled. For those who have already invested the £5 entry fee (no idea how they do it for that money!) it's not yet clear if it will be carried over for next year or refunded. Refunding will be a nightmare so I hope they just do the sensible thing and carry over.

If you've never been to the Newby Hall event it is usually held on the 3rd Sunday in July and you can get an entry form from the website at http://necpwa.org/ You make sure you put DLOC on the form and then David and Lesley will plan for you to be on the DLOC stand.

David and Lesley had reserved all the rooms at a nearby hotel which are now cancelled.

Disappointing for everyone but sadly inevitable.

As a past DLOC member and a current NECPWA member can I Say that Newby hall is indeed the jewel in the crown when it comes to shows in the north of England. £5.00 entry is for none members of NECPWA. Yes how they do it is amazing. Members enter for free and that is why I joined. David and Lesley have indeed done sterling work over the years and have worked extremely well with the organisers.
Colin,
I may be slow but I’m rough as well !
